Rick Isenberg MD, CSAT-C

Executive Director

Rick Isenberg, MD trained at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and spent many years on faculty there and at the Thomas Jefferson University Medical School. His specialty training has been in Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Uro-Gynecology. Presently, he is pursuing a Masters Degree in Clinical Counseling and certification as a Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT). Dr. Isenberg has 16 years of experience in clinical research, with interests including acute and chronic pain, wound healing, incontinence, and cancer screening. He has authored original research and review articles in the medical literature on subjects including addiction, pain management, wound healing and complications of surgery. Dr. Isenberg also serves as medical director at Psychological Counseling Services (Scottsdale AZ), a premier outpatient treatment center for sexual and other process addictions. He is the father of four and loves to travel the remote and wild areas of the world with a backpack on his back. His passion lies in service to his patients and the clinical community, leadership, and an integrated, evidence-based approach to addiction management.

 

David Petulla

Controller

David M. Petulla - an accomplished financial leader with a diverse record of achievements including over 25 years of accounting and financial experience joined AFAR in February 2015. He has a proven track record of successful financial and accounting management in all aspects of financial operations, reporting, mergers and acquisitions, treasury and banking, staff management and shareholder relations. His broad business background includes experience in several major industries including public company financial management at Algae Biosciences as Corporate Controller; InNexus Biotechnology as CFO; Cross Media Works Inc., as Vice President/Controller; Bonded Materials Company as the VP of Finance/Controller; and at Zila, Inc., as Director of Finance. David holds an MBA in Finance and Information Systems from San Jose State University a B.A. in Accounting and Finance from Baldwin-Wallace University. He is a board member and Treasurer for Stepping Up For Seniors.

Dr. Stefanie Carnes

Grant Review Chairperson

Stefanie Carnes, Ph.D. is the President of the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals, and a senior fellow for Meadows Behavioral Healthcare where she works with sexually addicted clients and their families. She is a licensed marriage and family therapist and an AAMFT approved supervisor. Dr. Carnes is also a certified sex addiction therapist and supervisor, specializing in therapy for couples and families struggling with sexual addiction. She is the author of numerous publications including her books, Mending a Shattered Heart: A Guide for Partners of Sex Addicts, and Facing Heartbreak: Steps to Recovery for Partners of Sex Addicts, and Facing Addiction: Starting Recovery from Alcohol and Drugs.
